de Oliveria Named MASCAC Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Year
MCLA’s Gustavo de Oliveira has been selected as the MASCAC Rookie of the Year.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— The MASCAC conference office today announced that freshman midfielder Gustavo de Oliveira (Pittsfield, MA) has been named the MASCAC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year.
Westfield State University's Nick Parakilas was named the Offensive Player of the Year, while Mass. Maritime's Preston Joia picked up Defensive Player of the Year. Mass. Maritime's Greg Perry was named the BSN Sports Coach of the Year.
de Oliveria led the team with seven goals and one assist for 15 points while netting the game-winner at Framingham State. The Framingham game was best game of the year when he scored four goals in a win over the Rams on September 6th. He also earned both Player and Rookie of the Week honors from the MASCAC for the week ending September 7th.
The All-MASCAC First Team consisted of Bridgewater State's Tyler Chang (midfield), Filippo Mucci (midfield), Hector Bucio (defense), and Gavin Norton (defense), Fitchburg State's Zachariah Foster (defense), Framingham State's Kaio Santos Da Silva (midfield), Mass. Maritime's Joia (goalie), Brody Calvert (forward), and John Burke (defense), Salem State's Iago De Sousa-Vieira, and Westfield State's Parakilas.
The All-MASCAC Second Team included Anna Maria College's Kyle Brocker (forward), Framingham State's John Holt (forward), Mass. Maritime's Jack Turmel (midfield), and Joseph Hajjar (defense), Salem State's Stephane Fevry (midfield), and Yuniel Sanchez (defense), Westfield State's Carter Hebert (midfield), Charlie Anischik (defense), Enzo Mazza (defense), and Marko Konoenko (goalie), and Worcester State's Wilber Garcia (midfield).
