MCLA Offense Explodes for 31 Runs in MASCAC Sweep
MCLA opened the MASCAC season by scoring thirty-one runs in a pair of victories over Mass. Maritime. MCLA busted open a close game midway through the opener en route to a 10-3 victory.

Game two saw the hosts' plate sixteen runs in the first inning as the Trailblazers cruised to a 21-4 victory.
Kelly Pirzl picked up the win, making her first appearance of the season for MCLA. The game was tied at 3-3 after the Buccaneers Meghan Thibeault (Scituate, MA) hit a two-run homer in the top of the fifth. MCLA responded with two in the fifth and five in the sixth to put the victory away.
Sam Barbarotta would answer the Thibeault two-run homer with one of her own in the bottom of the fifth putting the Trailblazers back ahead 5-3.
The Trailblazers went further ahead in the sixth as Kaitland Hager led off with a single and Kayla Koumjian followed with a double scoring Hager. Koumjian would then score on a pair of wild pitches off Buccaneer starter Jennifer March (Pawtucket, R.I.). Erin Kelley and Taylor Warnock would add doubles in the inning and Barbarotta and Kendra Hinkell singles as MCLA surged ahead for the 10-3 victory.
Warnock had three of the thirteen hits for MCLA in game one.
Mass Maritime would start game two as they did game one by jumping out 1-0, this time off MCLA starter Ainsley MacDonald.
MacDonald hit a batter and walked three in the inning, eventually walking in a run staking Buccanner starter Janelle Beaulieu (Buzzards Bay, MA) a 1-0.
Beaulieu didn't make it out of the first however allowing seven hits and walking nine in just two-thirds of an inning.
MCLA sent twenty batters to the plate as Kendra Hobbs and Hager each batted three times in the inning. Incredibly MCLA scored all sixteen runs with two outs in the inning. Barbarotta walked with the bases loaded and two out and MCLA was off from there.
Hinkell and Warnock had back to back singles making it 4-0. Angelica Perfido would come up later in the inning with the bases loaded and clear them with a triple, putting MCLA up 10-0. Hinkell would follow later with a based loaded double scoring three more and Hobbs would also clear the bases on a triple off reliever March making it 16-0 after one.
MCLA would roll to a 21-4 final from there. MacDonald picked up her third victory of the season going the distance and striking out eleven. Beaulieu took the loss for Mass. Maritime.
Holly McLaughlin (Belmont, MA) had two hits for Mass. Maritime
Hinkell and Hobbs had five rbi's apiece for MCLA and every MCLA starter scored at least two runs.
Mass. Maritime will host Framingham State starting at 1:00PM on Friday. MCLA will also be off till Friday when they travel to Fitchburg State, first game is at 2:00PM.
