MCLA was down 3-0 in the fourth when Kelly Pirzl doubled home Kendra Hinkell. Pirzl stole third with two outs, but Kendra Hobbs grounded out to end the inning. MCLA didn't get another hit the rest of the game.
Hillary Faas (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) led with a double and two RBIs as the Gators exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh to blow open the action. Rookie outfielder Samantha Woitkoski (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) added a 3-5 effort with two RBI's and a double as well for the Gators.
Senior Tiffany Bezio (Whitehall, NY/Whitehall) drove in a pair of runs and doubled as well as Sage had a 17-hit performance in the game.
Collecting the win for Sage was junior pitcher Kelsey Newberg (New Britain, CT/New Britain) as she worked four innings with one unearned run off five hits. Ainsley MacDonald took the loss for MCLA. She went six and one-third innings, allowing seven earned runs on fourteen hits and six walks. She struck-out two.
Hobbs had two hits and a stolen base in game one.
In game two Pirzl took the loss allowing eleven runs (seven earned) on seven hits and four walks. Junior Rachel Smith (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) drove in a pair of runs and earned the win for Sage after a five inning effort win which she scattered two hits and struck out nine.
MCLA was down 1-0 in the bottom of the first, but tied it up. Kaitland Hager walked with one out, advanced to second on a wild pitch and third on a groundout. Hager would score when Angelica Perfido struck-out, but reached on a wild pitch.
Faas was 2-4 in the nightcap with 4 RBIs and connected on her third home run of the year, a solo shot in the fourth to give the Gators a 7-1 lead.
MCLA had single runners on in the second, third and fourth innings, but couldn't string any hits together. Hager had a hit and a walk and Ashley Kelley had the other Trailblazer hit in game two.
Sage returns to action on April 21 hosting Farmingdale State College in an 11:00am. MCLA will play at Salem State at 1:00pm on Saturday.
