Quackenbush and Berghela claim MASCAC weekly honors
Rachel Quackenbush has been tabbed as the MASCAC pitcher of the week after tossing 20 innings and earning a pair of wins and a save.
North Adams, MA- MCLA senior right hander Rachel Quackenbush and freshman Katie Berghela were honored by the MASCAC office this afternoon. Quackenbush was selected as the pitcher of the week, while Berghela was the rookie of the week.
Quackenbush got her final season off to a tremendous start sporting a 2-0 record with one save in 20 innings of work. She tossed an 8 inning shutout against UMass Boston in the season opener, while working another complete game in a win over Endicott. The senior came out of the bullpen against Lasell to throw a perfect three innings to earn the save in yesterday's win.
On the week, Quackenbush had a 0.35 ERA with 23 strikeouts.
Berghela burst onto the scene for MCLA by hitting safely in all four contests (6-15, .400). She belted two doubles and drove in three runs over the four game stretch. She went 2-3 with a pair of runs scored in her collegiate debut in the win over UMass Boston. The speedy freshman also swiped a pair of bases.
MCLA will continue the southern swing on Tuesday with a doubleheader.
