Berghela repeats as conference's top rookie
MCLA first year player Kate Berghela is off to a fast start earning her second consecutive nod as the MASCAC rookie of the week
North Adams, MA- MCLA freshman Kate Berghela has had quite a start to her Trailblazer career. For the second consecutive week, Berghela was tabbed as the MASCAC rookie of the week as announced by the conference office. Berghela was selected along with Kelly McCarthy of Bridgewater State as she was the league's top pitcher and player of the week.
Berghela batted .444 for MCLA over the final six games of the Florida swing. She had a pair of doubles and RBI, while reaching base at a .500 clip. She went 3-4 with a double, RBI, and a stolen base in a 5-0 win over Norwich, while going 2-3 with a double and RBI in a loss to Ithaca.
Berghela currently leads the team in hitting.
MCLA will be off until March 30th when they travel to Troy, NY to battle RPI.
