Quinones tabbed as MASCAC Rookie of the Week in Softball
After a strong week at the plate, Alanza Quinones was selected as the Softball Rookie of the Week the MASCAC announced this afternoon
North Adams, MA- MCLA first year catcher Alanza Quinones has been tabbed as the MASCAC rookie of the week as announced by the league offices this afternoon. The honor marks the first for Quinones in 2018. Jenny Heller of Bridgewater State was selected as the Player of the Week while Kelsi Gunarathne earned the pitcher of the week.
Quinones was outstanding for the Trailblazers this week batting .500 (10-20). She started the week by going 2-6 with a double in a pair of games with Fitchburg State before having a spectacular end of the week. She collected multi hit games in doubleheaders with Lyndon State and Mass. Maritime to close the week.
Quinones was 4-7 against Lyndon State with 6 RBI's as MCLA swept past the Hornets. She helped the Trailblazers extend their winning streak to four games by going an identical 4-7 against the Buccaneers. She drove in two runs in that twinbill.
The right handed hitter notched five doubles and eight RBI's on the week while scoring six times.
The Trailblazers are back in action against Bridgewater State on Tuesday.
