MCLA's Maddy Teta and Hailey Peabody have been named to the 2025 Softball MASCAC All-Conference Teams
NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— The MASCAC conference office today announced that graduate student outfielder Maddy Teta (Troy, NY) and junior infielder/outfielder/pitcher Hailey Peabody (West Springfield, MA) have been named to the MASCAC All-Conference Softball Teams. Teta was named to the first team while Peabody was named to the second team.
Worcester State University's Emma Lanpher was named the Player of the Year, while Westfield State's Katherine Canty picked up Pitcher of the Year. Rookie of the Year went to Salem State's Tara Perryman. Westfield State's Joe Hough was named the BSN Sports Coach of the Year.
Teta was honored with her second MASCAC All-Conference honor, having been named to the second team after the 2022 season. She was one of only three Trailblazers to play in all 33 of the team's games, being joined by first-year first baseman Allee George and junior second baseman Ella Staffier. The fleet-footed outfielder led the Trailblazers in runs (39), doubles (12), walks (18), extra base hits (17), batting average (.447), on-base percentage (.535), and slugging percentage (.691). Teta was also ranked in the top 10 in the MASCAC in all of those categories, including leading the MASCAC in OBP. During the Trailblazers' sweep of a doubleheader against the Mass. Maritime Academy on April 16th, Teta went 6-7 at the plate with three doubles and a triple, while scoring four runs and swiping a bag.
Peabody picked up her second MASCAC All-Conference appointment, having been named to the second team as a utility player last year as well. The two-way player appeared in 32 of the Trailblazers' 33 games, starting at shortstop, pitcher, and centerfield. She was in the top-three of the team in at-bats (2nd, 102), runs (3rd, 30), hits (T-2nd, 42), triples (2nd, 4) RBI (T-1st, 27), walks (3rd, 10), stolen bases (3rd, 11), batting average (3rd, .412), on-base percentage (3rd, .465), and slugging percentage (3rd, .559). Peabody was also no slouch in the circle, providing MCLA with a consistent second arm, throwing eight complete games in her 15 starts. The junior played a key role in the Trailblazers' sweep of a doubleheader with Worcester State on April 2nd, finishing both games with a 2-4 batting line with an extra base hit and a run scored. She also drove in five runs and stole a base during the games. All while also pitching the first five and two-thirds innings of the nightcap.
The All-MASCAC First Team consisted of Teta, Framingham State's Brooke Grassia (second base), Salem State's Allison Frost (outfield) and Perryman (utility), Westfield State's Sarah Bingham (first base), Hannah Wodecki (third base), Mia Alfonso (catcher), Christina Ciampa (designated player), and Canty (pitcher), and Worcester State's Lanpher (shortstop), Bella Gasbarro (third base), Emma Lapoint (outfield), and Peyton Maloney (pitcher).
