MCLA too much for Johnson State, moves to 6-3
MCLA raced out to commanding 46-18 halftime lead en route to cruising past visiting Johnson State on Saturday. With the win, the Trailblazers are now 6-3 heading into their first semester finale against Wheelock. Jessica Dailey had a season high 10 points for the Trailblazers.
North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Basketball team raced out to a commanding 46-18 halftime lead en route to cruising past visiting Johnson State College 78-51 at the Amsler Campus Center Gym. With the win, MCLA improves to 6-3, while Johnson evens its record at 4-4.
The Trailblazers spread the wealth in the opening half as ten players found the scoring column. MCLA assisted on 14 of their 20 field goals in the half. Freshman Jessica Dailey came off the bench to score 10 first half points, fueled by a 3-3 performance from behind the arc.
After the visitors trimmed a 14 point margin to 10 with 11:16 to play, MCLA would outscore Johnson 27-9 over the remainder of the half for the big lead.
Junior forward Jen Wehner had a perfect day from the floor going 11 for 11 for a game high 24 points. She had her fifth straight double double by adding 11 rebounds, while also collecting five blocks. Alie Dobrovolc added 11 points, while Dailey would end the night with 10. Senior guard Hilary Perks added a season high seven assists.
For Johnson, both Kristine Tatro and Jennifer Ferrari finished with 15 points. Andrea Deuell added six assists.
MCLA outrebounded Johnson 53-36, while the Trailblazers ended the night with 23 assists.
MCLA will face Wheelock on Tuesday night.
