Buzzards Bay, MA- MCLA junior Jen Wehner capped a huge week as she was named MASCAC player of the week this afternoon. Wehner enjoyed one of the finest stretches of her career as the Trailblazers went 2-1. She averaged 25.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 4.3 blocks on the week. Wehner's nod makes it four straight weeks that an MCLA player has claimed the honor. She joins Alie Dobrovolc and men's player Jon Greenberg (twice) as recipients.
She began the week with a 29 point, 11 rebound performance in the Trailblazers only setback of the week at Albany Pharmacy. Wehner would follow that up with a 23 point, 12 rebound, and six block effort in a home win against Hartwick. She would conclude the week by tallying with a stat line of 24 points, 11 boards, and five more blocks in a rout of Johnson State.
Most impressive was her shooting touch. Wehner would connect on 30 of 37 field goals for a sizzling 81% clip on the week.
She currently leads the MASCAC in rebounds, field goal percentage, and blocks, while checking in at number two in scoring.
Wehner and the Trailblazers wrap up the semester on Tuesday night when they host Wheelock College.
