Wehner and Dobrovolc Earn MASCAC First-Team All-Conference Status
MCLA juniors Jen Wehner and Alie Dobrovolc were both named to the All MASCAC first team as announced by the conference this afternoon.
Buzzards Bay, Mass. — MCLA junior forward Jen Wehner has been named as the 2010-11 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year and heads the league's all-conference squad in a vote taken of the conference's seven coaches.
A native of Cooperstown, N.Y., Wehner led the league in both scoring and rebounding at 17.6 points per game and 14.3 rebounds per game during the regular season, as she also paced the conference with a .557 field goal percentage in leading the Trailblazers to a 16-8 regular season mark and a tie for second place in league play that featured eight MASCAC triumphs.
MCLA junior guard Alie Dobrovolc of Little Falls, NY was also named to the first-team. Dobrovic averaged 12.6 points per game, 7 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game. Dobrovic also added over a steal per game.
Framingham State University freshman guard Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) was tabbed as the 2010-11 MASCAC Rookie of the Year after averaging 15.3 points per game during her inaugural collegiate campaign, while Westfield State University's Andrea Bertini was recognized by her peers as the 2010-11 MASCAC Turfer Coach of the Year after leading the Owls to their second MASCAC regular season crown in three seasons with a 20-5 overall mark, including an 11-1 slate in conference play.
Wehner and Dobrovic were joined on the 2010-11 MASCAC first-team all-conference squad by Westfield State's Ashley Finnegan and Cassy Jouannet and Bridgewater State's Brittney Chappron.
The 2010-11 MASCAC second-team all-conference squad consisted of Worcester State's Kaleigh Charette, Bridgewater State's Shelly DePina and Corey Cuddihy, Framingham State's Kia Minor and Westfield State's Briana Kelly.
