Hotaling tabbed as MASCAC player of the week
MCLA junior Kayla Hotaling was tabbed as the MASCAC player of the week after leading the Trailblazers to their sixth straight win this week
North Adams, MA- MCLA junior Kayla Hotaling was selected as the MASCAC player of the week after leading the Trailblazers to a trio of victories. Hotaling was honored along with Lucy Barrett of Westfield State, who was selected as the conference's rookie of the week.
Hotaling averaged 13.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.7 blocks in a 3-0 week for MCLA. She finished with a double double effort of 14 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks, and 3 steals in a win over Utica last Wednesday. She added another double double of 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots in Saturday's win over Simmons. The forward started the week by collecting a career high six assists along with 15 points in a win over Lasell.
Hotaling has been instrumental in leading the team on a six game winning streak, the longest in head coach Holly McGovern's tenure. Hotaling has been in double figures in every game during that stretch and leads the team in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots.
The Trailblazers look to stretch the streak to seven games on Wednesday when they host Mount Holyoke at 5:30pm.
