Women’s Basketball Drop Non-Conference Clash with SUNY Delhi
Scialabba had a game-high 15 points but MCLA dropped their home opener this evening against SUNY Delhi.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Basketball team played their first home game of the 2025-26 season this evening, welcoming the SUNY Delhi Broncos into the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium. Abigail Scialabba led a trio of Trailblazers with double-digit point totals, scoring a game-high 15 points, joining Hailey Peabody and Dakota Quick. The Bronco had a trio of their own, led by 12 points each for Sarah Gaetano and Junita Guzman to walk away with a 58-45 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MCLA started the game hot, scoring the game's first six points behind layups by sophomore guard Abigail Scialabba (Williamstown, MA) and senior guard/forward Hailey Peabody (W. Springfield, MA). Peabody then capped the run with a jumper from the right side baseline for what would turn out to be the home team's largest lead of the night.
- The combination of Scialabba and Peabody scored 11 of the Trailblazers 14 points in the first quarter, finishing the frame with 14-12 lead.
- The MCLA offense fell into a bit of a funk in the second quarter, only scoring five point to the Broncos 12 second quarter points. SUNY Delhi's Mya Aiken scored six of her nine points in the second quarter.
- The second half opened with both teams struggling from the field, combining for four points on a layup by Alexandra Reuss for SUNY Delhi and a pair of free throws by junior guard Dakota Quick (Connelly, NY) in the first four minutes of play. The Broncos were the first to recover, capitalizing on a four point play by Gaetano to go up 30-22. The visitors would finished the penultimate quarter with a 38-30 lead.
- The closing frame saw an uptick in offense, with both teams posting the highest scoring quarter of the game. Delhi added 20 points to their score led by eight points from Gaetano, all scored at the charity stripe, while MCLA's 15 points were fueled by five points each from Scialabba and Peabody.
- Scialabba led all scorers with 15 points for the Trailblazers while adding six boards, two assists, and two blocked shots. Peabody added 12 points to go with seven rebounds, and two steals.
- Gaetano and Juanita Guzman led the Broncos with 12 points apiece. Guzman just missed a double-double, pulling down eight rebounds.
- MCLA's sophomore forward Amare Williams (Woburn, MA) and Delhi's Gianna Schmidt shared the game-high with 12 rebounds each.
