Women’s Continues to Compete and Grow in Challenging Matchup
MCLA's Ashlyn Bill blocked five shots in a loss to Anna Maria College.
PAXTON, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Basketball team took to the road this evening, traveling to Anna Maria College and the Fuller Athletic Center for a rematch of last week's meeting with the AMCATs in North Adams. Dakota Quick and Abigail Scialabba scored ten points each, but it was not enough to match a trio of AMCATS, who paced the home team with double-digit point totals to an 80-33 MASCAC game.

HOW IT WENT DOWN
- Anna Maria used early three‑point shooting to build momentum, connecting on five of eight shots from beyond the arc to take a commanding 19-2 lead.
- MCLA generated a few key offensive highlights in the second quarter with contributions from junior guard Dakota Quick (Connelly, NY), who pulled down a defensive board and then drained a three off an assist from sophomore guard Abigail Scialabba (Williamstown, MA), just over a minute into the period. Scialabba added a layup and a three-pointer off feeds from senior guard/forward Hailey Peabody (W. Springfield, MA). Scialabba later repaid Peabody, assisting on the senior layup with just under three minutes to play in the half. Anna Maria maintained control through efficient shooting and pressure defense and went into the intermission ahead 37-12.
- The Trailblazers tightened their defense, holding AMC to only 14 points in the third quarter, helped by an improvement on the offensive glass and a blocked shot from senior forward Ashlyn Bill (Windham, CT).
- MCLA produced its strongest offensive stretch of the night with multiple made shots and free throws. Both Scialabba and Quick connected on their three-point attempts, while Quick converted on four of five shots from the charity stripe.
- Anna Maria's Arianna Gonzalez and Tiffany Salazar shared the scoring crown, each finished with 15 points, while Salazar added a game-high seven assists. Sarah O'Connor had a game-high 10 rebounds for the home team.
- The Trailblazers were led by ten points from both Scialabba and Quick. Quick also shared the team lead in boards, finishing the night with eight rebounds to match Bill. Bill also had a game-high four blocked shots.
