14 Trailblazers Earn AHCA All-American Scholars Recognition
14 members of the MCLA Men's and Women's Ice Hockey teams picked up AHCA All-American Scholars honors
GLOUCESTER, Mass.— 14 MCLA Men's and Women's Ice Hockey players were recently recognized by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) by being named among the organization's All-American Scholars.
The AHCA is once again recognizing varsity ice hockey players who compiled exceptional results in the classroom during the 2024-25 season with the announcement of the ninth annual "Krampade All-American Scholars." To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 GPA for each semester and have had to appear in 40% of the team's games. Exceptions were granted to injured players and back-up goaltenders. Schools were also required to be members of the AHCA.
The names of 1,123 Division II-III men (664) and women (459) were released on July 17th, and their Division I counterparts were announced a week earlier.
Sophomore defenseman Carlen Bertrand (Timmins, ON / Sudbury Wolves) and first-year defenseman Rozene Sabeti-Seidel (Turner Valley, AB / Rocky Mtn. Raiders) were the honorees from the women's team.
The men's team were represented by sophomore forwards Charlie Addesa (Andover, MA / Worcester Railers), Jack Bortle (Granville, OH / New England Wolves), Addam Brunner (Hamburg, NY / Walpole Express), Gavin Glaubitz (Owings, MD / Connecticut Chiefs), Sean Neu (Wake Forest, NC / Protec Jr. Ducks), Luke Rhoss (Monroe, NY / Philadelphia H.C.), Easton Moore (Red Deer, AB / Florida Eels), Quinn Murphy (Champaign, IL / Philadelphia H.C.), sophomore defensemen Shane Green (Bear, DE / Philadelphia Little Flyers), Connor Nagy (Trenton, MI / Finlandia University), and Joshua Romanowski (Amenia, NY / Connecticut Chiefs) and freshman forward Sam Zis (Boulder, CO / Connecticut Chiefs).
The American Hockey Coaches Association was formed in May of 1947 in Boston, MA, by a handful of college coaches concerned about the game they loved. It has grown to include professional, junior, high school, and youth hockey coaches, as well as referees, administrators, sales representatives, journalists, and fans. It is open to men and women alike.
