Women’s Hockey Drop Non-Conference Game to SUNY Canton
Kaitlyn O’Brien stopped 49 shots, but the Trailblazers fell to SUNY Canton in non-conference play this evening.

CANTON, N.Y. – The MCLA Women's Ice Hockey team took to the highway this evening for a weekend series with the SUNY Canton Roos at the Roo House Ice Arena. The Roos were less than hospitable hosts, peppering the Trailblazers with nine goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SUNY Canton was the first team on the scoreboard, scoring a shorthanded goal just over five minutes into the game. Chamonix Jackson (5:41 of first period, assisted by Lalonde) was credited with the goal, assisted by Danika Lalonde. The Roos extended their lead about three minutes later with a goal from Abby Tate (8:32, Hanson & Caroccio) and assists going to Asha Hanson and Jordan Caroccio.
- The home team added a two more goals before the first period came to a close. The first went to Kylah Small (16:10, Schemenauer & Stoll) with assists being credited to Joey Schemenauer and Taylor Stoll. The second was tallied by Stoll (16:40, Beal & Pavlasova) aided by assists from Lucy Beal and Anna Pavlasova.
- The second period saw SUNY Canton add on three more goals with Jackson (8:08 of the second period, Beal, and 16:32, Beal & Pavlasova) lighting the lamp twice in the frame Beal provided assists on both goals while Pavlasova helped on the second. Bailey Cote (18:25, Valiquette & Morris, Ashten) pushed the home team lead to 7-0 with just over 90 seconds left in the period with assists going to Sydney Valiquette and Ashten Morris.first
- In the third period, the home team added two more goals. The first was scored by Cote (0:27 of third period, Tate) assisted by Tate. Cote (6:00, Morris & O'Keefe) added her second of the game with assists going to Morris and Kyra O'Keefe.
- SUNY Canton's Alyssa Townsley stopped all eight shots on net that she faced to keep a clean sheet and improving her record to 1-0-0. MCLA's junior goalie Kaitlyn O'Brien (Ridley Park, PA / Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) had 49 saves and fell to 0-2-0.
- Junior forward Nicolette Bardsley (Gilbertsville, PA / Chatham University) and first-year defenseman Michaella Gonzalez (Corona, CA / Anaheim Lady Ducks) led the Trailblazers with two shots each.
