Women’s Hockey Fall at SUNY Canton in Non-Conference Game
Katherine Moose recorded 57 saves in her first collegiate appearance, but the Trailblazers dropped a non-conference game to SUNY Canton this afternoon.
CANTON, N.Y. – The MCLA Women's Ice Hockey team wrapped up a two game series this weekend series at the Roo House Ice Arena with the SUNY Canton Roos. SUNY Canton kept the Trailblazers winless on the season, taking the final game of the series by a score of 5-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the teams played to a scoreless draw through the first period despite the home team holding a 17-3 advantage in shots on goal, the Roos upped the pressure on the MCLA defense in the second period. Danika Lalonde (PP, at 2:51 of 2nd period, assisted by Andzel & Beal) opened the scoring with a power play goal assists credited to Riley Andzel and Lucy Beal. The Roos extended their lead short of the midpoint in the frame with a goal by Ashten Morris (9:05, Bourgeault & Valiquette) off assists by Izzy Bourgeault and Sydney Valiquette. A power play goal by Anna Pavlasova (PP, 16:42, Lalonde & Beal) and assisted by Lalonde & Beal) wrapped the scoring in the second period.
- SUNY Canton added two more goals in the third period on goals by Taylor Stoll (9:42 of 3rd, Asha Hanson & Joey Schemenauer) and Pavlasova (PP, 18:52, Lalonde & Beal).
- MCLA's first-year goalie Katherine Moose (Wynnewood, PA / Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) made her collegiate debut this afternoon, stopping 57 shots but still fell to 0-1-0. For the Roos, Clara Rayner recorded a shutout, stopping six shots to improve to 1-0-0.
- First-year forward Brooklyn Ekblad (Williston, ND / Williston High School) led the Trailblazer three shots. The teams' other shots being single shots credited to junior forward Milena Monell (Tampa, FL / Florida Alliance), first-year forward Kiera Grom (Livonia, MI / Belle Tire), and junior forward Nicolette Bardsley (Gilbertsville, PA / Chatham University).
