HOW IT WENT DOWN
- The Raiders opened the game applying pressure to the MCLA defense, enjoying a 30-9 edge in shots, including a 19-4 advantage in shots on net. From those shots, Rivier came away from the opening period with a 2-0 lead. The home goals were credited to Chloe Bryda (5:43, assisted by Mary Kelley & and Ella Spinazola) and Olivia Schultz (PP, 17:10, Marina Bassett & Jillian Hallee).
- The second period played out similarly to the first with the Raiders posting a 36-13 shot and 21-5 shots on net advantage. The home team was able to convert two of those shots in scores by Giada Musa (3:36, Alexa Vencill, and 11:39, Kayley Young).
- One change from the first period was the Trailblazers also found their way on to the scoreboard. The play began with junior forward Nicolette Bardsley (Gilbertsville, PA / Chatham University) (15:05, Monell) intercepting an attempt to enter the MCLA defensive zone right around her own blue line. She chipped ahead to junior forward Milena Monell (Tampa, FL / Florida Alliance) for a quick give and go pass back to Bardsley who threw a shot on net that came in just below the cross bar. The assist by Monell was her first of the season.
- Keeping the trend going into the final frame, Rivier posted two more goals. The first went to Casey Roth (4:40, unassisted) and the second was by Bryda (9:14, Spinazola & Kelley).
- Bardsley (15:04, Grom and Danchak) added her second goal of the night, this time with a power play goal. First year defenseman Michaella Gonzalez (Corona, CA / Anaheim Lady Ducks) began the scoring sequence, recovering a puck in the MCLA defensive end, and bouncing a pass off the left side boards to sophomore defenseman Rozene Sabeti-Seidel (Turner Valley, AB / Rocky Mtn. Raiders) who dumped the puck into the Raider defensive end. Sabeti-Seidel followed the puck into the zone, but was met by a Rivier defender along the wall. Trailing behind Sabeti Seidel was junior forward Maggie Danchak (Chalfont, PA / Philadelphia Little Flyers) to battle for the puck along the wall and sent it out to sophomore forward Kiera Grom (Livonia, MI / Belle Tire). Grom threw an off balance shot in the direction of the net that the Raider goalie knocked down but couldn't control as both Sabeti-Seidel and Bardsley crashed on the net and Bardsley got the chip in for the goal. The two goals by Bardsley were her first of the season and brought her career total to six. The assists were the first of the year for Grom and second for Danchak.
- A pair of Rivier goalies combined for 18 saves. Emily Krauss (2-1-0) played the first 44:10 to get the win and stopped nine shots on net while allowing only one goal. Amelia LeBrun went the rest of the way, also recording nine saves and allowing one goal. The Trailblazers' junior goalie Kaitlyn O'Brien (Ridley Park, PA / Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) followed up her 77 save performance against Rivier last Friday with a 50 save showing tonight but still saw her record fall to 0-4-0.
