Moose Backstops Women’s Hockey in Narrow Defeat to Hilbert
MCLA fell in non-conference play this evening.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Hockey team opened their final games of the semester this evening, welcoming Hilbert College into the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink for a non-conference matchup with the Hawks. The Trailblazers kept the pressure on the team from New York, but were held to one score, falling 3-1.
THE BASICS:
- Date: Friday, December 12, 2025
- Score: Hilbert 3, MCLA 1
- Records: Hilbert College Hawks 1-8-0 (UCHC 0-4-0) | MCLA Trailblazers 0-9-0 (MASCAC 0-5-0)
HOW IT WENT DOWN
- MCLA held a nine-to-six advantage in shots on goal in the first period, but it was Hilbert who put the first point on the scoreboard when Kelsey Fuller (12:50 of 1st period, assisted by V. Koenig and Battaglia) was credited with the goal with just over seven minutes left in the first period. The assists went to Victoria Koenig and Victoria Battaglia. Fuller's goal would be the only score of the period.
- Fuller (7:22 of 2nd period, unassisted) then notched her second goal of the game in the second period, just over seven minutes in, posting an unassisted goal. The goal was the fourth of the season for Fuller.
- The Trailblazers would respond, cutting the lead in half with over seven minutes to play in the second period. The play started with junior defenseman Summer Bissaillion (Blind River, ON / Sudbury Wolves) passing the puck along the blue line to junior defenseman Rebekah Ade (Cameron, SC / New Jersey Colonials) at the right point for a sharp wrist shot that the Hawk's Tia Card was able to stop, but not control, allowing first-year forward Brooklyn Ekblad (Williston, ND / Williston High School) (PP, 12:41, Ade and Bissaillion) put home a shot from in front of the net. The goal was the second of the season for Ekblad, while the assists were the first for Ade and the second for Bissaillion. The goal would send the team into the second intermission with Hilbert ahead 2-1
- MCLA kept the pressure on in the third period, outshooting the Hawks 21-9 in the final frame, but the Trailblazers were unable to break through Card for an equalizer.
- Hilbert added an empty net goal with 1:17 to play when Brooke Kwiecien lofted a puck from inside her own defensive end that trickled in before MCLA would retreat to recover it to set the final score at 3-1.
