Women’s Hockey Take Down Framingham in OT
Nicolette Bardsley scored in overtime to send MCLA home winners in non-conference action this evening.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Ice Hockey team returned from their winter break with a non-conference meeting against fellow MASCAC member, Framingham State University at the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink this evening. Nicolette Bardsley sent the Trailblazers home happy, scoring a short-handed overtime game winner just over two minutes into the extra time to secure a 3-2 win over the Rams.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Following a scoreless first period and a nearly scoreless second period, MCLA was the first one on the scoreboard when sophomore defenseman Rozene Sabeti-Seidel (Turner Valley, AB / Rocky Mtn. Raiders) (19:16 of 2nd period, assisted by Ekblad & Danchak) notched her first goal of the season, burying a rebound of a shot by first-year forward Brooklyn Ekblad (Williston, ND / Williston High School). The assists were the third of the season for junior forward Maggie Danchak (Chalfont, PA / Philadelphia Little Flyers) and the first of Ekblad's career, while the goal was the second of Sabeti-Seidel's career.
- The Trailblazers stretched their lead to two goals early in the third frame when sophomore forward Kiera Grom (Livonia, MI / Belle Tire) (2:30 of 3rd period, Bissaillion) put home another rebound this time off a shot from junior defenseman Summer Bissaillion (Blind River, ON / Sudbury Wolves). The goal was the third of the season for Grom, and the helper was Bissaillion's fourth.
- The Rams rallied back to tie the score on goals from Molly Murphy (PP, 9:49, Borgen & Hogan) and Alexis Brown (13:31, Murphy & Brien).
- Despite Framingham holding a 4-2 edge in shots during the bonus frame, it was junior forward Nicolette Bardsley (Gilbertsville, PA / Chatham University) who called game when she forced a turnover in the Framingham end, recovered the puck in the slot, deked right before going left and lighting the lamp for a short-handed overtime game winner. The goal was Bardsley's third goal of the year.
- Junior goalie Kaitlyn O'Brien (Ridley Park, PA / Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) stopped 54 of 56 shots to secure her first win of the season, improving to 1-5-1. For the Rams it was Lila Chamoun taking the loss to fall to 1-9-0 after recording 32 saves on 35 shots.
