MCLA wins eighth straight in 2-0 win over Sage, ties school mark
MCLA won their eighth straight game 2-0 over Sage this afternoon. With the win, the Trailblazers move to 13-3, tying the school record for wins in a season.
Albany, NY-- MCLA recorded their eighth straight victory this afternoon defeating Sage College 2-0. With the win, the Trailblazers improve to 13-3. They also tied the school record for wins in a season heading into the regular season finale with rival Westfield State.
Senior midfielder Jade Prickett (Westhampton, MA) would break the scoreless tie with her unassisted goal off a direct kick at 53:07, marking her second goal of the year. Junior Jess Tietgens (Stamford, VT) would add an additional score for the Trailblazers at 68:21. The forward leads her squad with 21 goals and 46 points this fall.
In goal for the Gators, was Sage's junior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) as she made five saves on the afternoon. MCLA's sophomore Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, NY) would collect the win after making 17 saves and earning her sixth shutout of the year. Wehner would even stop a penalty kick with 2:31 left to play to preserve the shutout as she saved the attempt by Sage's junior Ashley Allian (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater).
