Trailblazer Women's Soccer selected to finish sixth in MASCAC Preseason poll
The MCLA Women's Soccer team will look to build on last years playoff appearance as they were selected sixth in the MASCAC preseason poll.
2013 MASCAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll
North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer team was selected to finish sixth in the MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll released this morning. The Trailblazers are coming off a playoff berth a year ago, and will look to unseat regular season and tournament champion Westfield State. The Owls were the overwhelming favorite to repeat in 2013.
The Trailblazers, under the direction of head coach Deb Raber, return a host of all conference performers from a year ago. Leading scorer Jen Ferrari returns, along with All MASCAC goalkeeper Danielle Heinsohn and midfielder Ashlee Scofield. MCLA earned the sixth seed in the MASCAC a year ago before falling to Bridgewater in the quarterfinal round.
Westfield was the unanimous choice to win the league finishing with all eight first place votes. They were followed by Worcester State, Bridgewater, and Salem State to round out the top four. Framingham was fifth, six points in front of MCLA, while Fitchburg and Mass. Maritime rounded out the poll.
MCLA will open their season at home next Friday when they host Minnesota Morris at 3:30pm.
