Women's Soccer drops home opener in overtime to Bay Path 2-1

North Adams, MA- The visiting Bay Path women's soccer team scored the tying goal in the 87th minute and then netted the game winner in overtime as they rallied past the MCLA Trailblazers 2-1 this evening at Shewcraft Field.  The Wildcats are now 4-1 on the season while MCLA drops to 1-5 overall.

MCLA got on the board early in this one as first year player Meghan Dingman converted a Brooke Mangiardi feed for her first collegiate goal in the 15th minute to give the hosts an early 1-0.  The Trailblazers would take that lead into halftime and deep into the second half before the Wildcats made their move.

In the 87th minute, Jai Ruiz scored an unassisted goal to tie things up at 1-1 in the late stages of regulation.  The game would head to overtime and once again, it was Ruiz who made the difference.

In the 96th minute, she would convert a pass from Megan Mackie and beat MCLA keeper Megan Richardson to give the visitors the win.  It was her team best 7th goal of the season.

Bay Path was outshot by MCLA 7-4 in the opening half, but then turned it around in the pivotal second half outshooting MCLA 15-7 over the final 51 minutes.

Caitlyn Esposito earned the win in goal for Bay Path stopping 8 shots.

Richardson made 12 stops in goal for MCLA.

Tonight's game marked the home opener for MCLA and they'll continue the homestand on Saturday when they host Westfield State at 1pm.
