Women’s Soccer downed by Westfield State

North Adams, MA- Forward Jenn Rennich (Bedford, MA) scored three times and added an assist leading Westfield State to a decisive 6-0 conference victory over MCLA this evening at Shewcraft Field. With the win the Owls improve to 5-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the league, while the Trailblazers fall to 1-5-1 overall and 0-2 in MASCAC play.

Westfield State would score four goals in an 8-minute span to put this one away early. Rennich would open the scoring in the 13^th minute and less than two minutes later, teammate Riley Lowe (Andover, MA) would make it 2-0 Owls. In the 21^st minute, both Jaida Cochran (Middleboro, MA) and Rennich again would stretch the lead to 4-0.

MCLA would stem the tide for the rest of the half but in the 53^rd minute, Westfield State's Mary Kate McAleavey (Quincy, MA) found the back to the net to make it 5-0. In the 85^th minute Rennich would strike again for the hat trick and the graduate student's MASCAC leading 11^th goal of the season.

Westfield State keeper Julia Robak (Chicopee, MA) started the contest and earned the win moving to 2-2 on the year. MCLA senior keeper Jillian Currier (Troy, NY) made an impressive 24 saves in the loss but drops to 1-5-1.

Westfield State will next travel to Smith College on Wednesday for a 4pm nonconference match. MCLA will be off until Saturday, October 1^st when they host Mass Maritime for a 12pm MASCAC tilt.
