Women’s Soccer Drop Season Opener at Wentworth
Mallory Amirian stopped 11 shots in MCLA's loss to Wentworth.
BOSTON, Mass.—The MCLA Women's Soccer team made their second attempt at a season opener this evening when they traveled to the Wentworth Institute of Technology for a non-conference matchup with the Leopards. The Trailblazers game on Saturday at Dean College was postponed due to weather, so today's meeting with WIT marked MCLA's first time on the pitch for the 2025 season. Mallory Amirian made 11 saves in a relief effort, but the Leopards came away with a 4-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The majority of the game was played in the Trailblazers' defensive zone, with WIT holding 39 to four advantage in shots, including a 23 to two edge in shots on net.
- The Leopards netted three first half goals by Kyra Forsberg (14:37, assisted by Brooke Finlay), Lily Carlson (18:08, Brianna Reid), and Lina Arlander (43:37, Rachel Hagerty & Kayla Heister). Isabella Cunha (65:32, Arlander) notched the only score of the second half.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Mallory Amirian (Haverhill, MA) took over in net for MCLA at halftime and would finish the night with 11 saves on 12 shots on goal. Sophomore keeper Destiny Alexandra Rivas (Leicester, MA) recorded eight first half saves but still saw her record fall to 0-1-0.
- Wentworth's Kyleigh Murphy converted on both of her save opportunities to record their first collegiate win, improving to 1-0-0.
