Women's Tennis drops fifth straight, fall to Castleton 7-2
Kelley Bryant earned a point in the top singles slot, however the MCLA Trailblazers could only muster one other point in a loss to Castleton
Pittsfield, MA- The MCLA Trailblazers dropped their fifth straight match this afternoon, falling to NAC foe Castleton State by a score of 7-2. The setback drops MCLA to 1-7 on the season while the Spartans improve to 2-5 overall.
Castleton got off to a strong start sweeping the early doubles matches. The Spartans earned a key point in the second doubles match as the duo of Olga McIntyre and Kaydeen Juaire needed to win a tiebreaking set (10-7) over Danielle Wiencek and Rebecca Waterhouse. That match earned the sweep giving Castleton a 3-0 edge heading into singles play.
Castleton earned straight set wins from Sara Novenstern, McIntyre, Ruby Bushey, and Monika Plante to secure the victory.
Trailblazer Kelley Bryant earned a point in the top singles slot defeating Monica Susslin 6-3, 1-6, 10-7. Waterhouse earned the final point for MCLA defeating Juaire 6-2, 7-5.
MCLA is back in action on Wednesday when they battle St. Joseph (CT).
