Volleyball Split Tri-match with Mass. Maritime & Bay Path
MCLA defeated Mass. Maritime 3-0 and lost to Bay Path 3-0 in volleyball action this afternoon
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.—The MCLA Volleyball Team took to the road this afternoon for a matinee tri-match with their MASCAC foe, the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and a rematch with their Thursday evening opponent, Bay Path University. The Trailblazers took the conference matchup with the Buccaneers in straight sets before falling in straight sets to the Wildcats.

- Series History: MCLA leads the all-time series 23-7. MCLA extended their win streak over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy to 18 games, including a 3-0 home win last season on October 7, 2023. The Buccaneers took the first-ever meeting between the teams 3-0 on October 28, 1984, in Buzzards Bay.
HIGHLIGHTS (Match #1)
- MCLA blitzed their way through the Mass. Maritime Academy in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-12, and 25-21.
- Senior right side Chloie Garber (Eagle River, AK) finished the game with a game-high ten kills and nine service aces. Garber's 19.5 total points were more than a quarter of the Trailblazer's 75 points and nearly matched the Buccaneer's total of 24 points.
- Garber was also part of a quartet of Trailblazers who finished with a double-digit total of digs, led by junior outside hitter Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA) with 13 and 12 apiece for Garber, senior libero Ezmeralda Albright (Loves Park, IL), and sophomore setter Beth Harris (San Antonio, TX).

- Records: MCLA Trailblazers 5-13 (MASCAC 1-1) | Bay Path University Wildcats 9-4 (USCAA 0-0)
- Series History: MCLA leads the all-time series 22-4. In the team's last meeting, the Wildcats snapped a ten-game losing streak to MCLA, defeating the Trailblazers 3-1 on Thursday night. The Trailblazers took the first-ever meeting between the teams 3-0 on October 2, 1999, in North Adams.
HIGHLIGHTS (Match #2)
- Garber again led the attack for MCLA, finishing the game with a team-high eight kills. Junior outside hitter Audrey Melson (Champlin Park, MN) and sophomore middle hitter Makenna Carter (Averill Park, NY) each recorded four kills. Anastasiya Tsetko led the Wildcat attack with a game-high 16 kills.
- First-year setter Addison Decaro (Eagle River, AK) had a game-high 13 assists for the Trailblazers, one more than Michelle Santiago's Bay Path leading 12 assists.
- Albright finished with a dozen digs for the second game in a row, one less than the Wildcats' Zormar Betancourt and Shanayah St. Phard's game-high 13.
UP NEXT:
On Wednesday, MCLA will be back in action when they play host to Fitchburg State for a MASCAC matchup with the Falcons at the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
