Volleyball Roll Through Tri-Match with Elmira & Curry
MCLA defeated Elmira 3-0 and Curry 3-0 in volleyball action this afternoon

MILTON, Mass. — The MCLA Volleyball team came away from a tri-match with Elmira College and Curry College with a pair of victories.
MATCH #1:

- Records: Elmira College Soaring Eagles 1-5 (Empire 8 0-0) | MCLA Trailblazers 4-2 (MASCAC 0-0)
- Series History: With today's win, MCLA has evened the all-time series between the teams at 2-2. MCLA won the last meeting of the teams 3-1 on October 2, 2015, as part of a tri-match with Nazareth University. The Soaring Eagles took the first-ever meeting of the teams by a score of 3-0 on October 1, 2010, as part of a tri-match with SUNY Plattsburgh.
HIGHLIGHTS (Game #1)
- MCLA took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-23.
- First-year hitters Mikayla Howlett (Harwinton, CT) and Kaelynn Greeley (Corona, CA) paced the Trailblazers with five and six kills, respectively.
- Greeley was second on the team with seven digs, trailing only senior libero Beth Harris (San Antonio, TX) who had eight and Elmira's Gabriela Rodriguez who had a game-high 11.
- Senior setter Shannon O'Brien (Unionville, CT) posted a game-high 12 assists and sophomore setter Addison Decaro (Eagle River, AK) finished the match with seven.

- Score: MCLA 3, Curry 0
- Records: MCLA Trailblazers 5-2 (MASCAC 0-0) | Curry College Colonels 2-3 (CNE 0-0)
- Series History: MCLA leads the all-time series between the teams 6-0, including a 3-0 win the last time the teams met on September 18, 2021, at Curry. MCLA also took the first-ever meeting of the teams by a score of 3-0 as part of a tri-match at Bay Path University on October 20, 2012.
HIGHLIGHTS (Game #2)
- MCLA took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-5, 25-13, and 25-19.
- Junior middle hitter Caroline Schmaling (Halifax, MA) had a game-high seven kills while senior outside hitter Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA) finished with five kills on seven attacks for a .714 hitting percentage.
- O'Brien again had a game-high in assists, finishing her second match of the day with 13 helpers. Harris had a game-high 13 digs in the closing event.
UP NEXT:
On Wednesday, MCLA will be back in action when they play host to Utica University for a non-conference matchup with the Pioneers in the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
