Volleyball Topples Mass Maritime, 3-1
MCLA saw their consecutive sets streak snapped at 13, but still took down MMA in MASCAC play this afternoon.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The MCLA Volleyball team welcomed the Massachusetts Maritime Academy to the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium this afternoon for a MASCAC match-up with the Buccaneers. The Trailblazers dropped a set for the first time in four games, but still rallied to finish off the visitors in four sets.

- Series History: MCLA now leads the all-time series 24-7, including a 3-0 win last season in Buzzards Bay as part of a tri-match on October 12, 2024. The Buccaneers won the first-ever meeting of the teams 3-0 in Buzzards Bay on October 28, 1984.
HIGHLIGHTS
- MCLA needed more than the minimum number of sets to finish a match for the first time in four games. MCLA took the first set without ever trailing 25-18. After dropping the second set 25-22, the Trailblazers finished the afternoon by taking the final two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-20.
- The first set was highlighted by MCLA forcing out a lead by as many as 14 points, strengthened by five service aces, including two by Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA). Mikayla Howlett (Harwinton, CT) recorded three of the Trailblazers' four first-set blocks.
- MMA bounced back in an exciting second set that included 10 ties and three lead changes before the Buccaneers held off a charging MCLA team that closed to within two points.
- The back-and-forth nature of the second set carried over into the third, featuring only two fewer ties and the same number of lead changes. Brown powered the Trailblazer offense in the third set, notching four kills and two more service aces.
- The fourth and final set saw MCLA again rally back from trailing by three at 18-15 before finishing the afternoon with a 10-3 run on the back of two service aces by Addison Decaro (Eagle River, AK).
