Volleyball Extend Win Streak to Nine Games with Sweep of Tri-match with Fitchburg & Lesley
Kaelynn Greeley had 26 kills in MCLA’s sweep of a tri-meet this afternoon.
FITCHBURG, Mass. — The MCLA Volleyball team took to the road this afternoon for a tri-meet at Fitchburg State. The Trailblazers needed four sets to take down the host Falcons behind 21 kills from Kaelynn Greeley. MCLA then swept away the Lesley University Lynx in straight sets on the strength of six kills by Payton Yung and four service aces by Olivia Grob.

- Series History: MCLA now leads the all-time series between the teams 14-11. MCLA swept Fitchburg in straight sets last year in North Adams on October 16, 2024. The first-ever meeting of the teams took place on November 17, 1975, in North Adams, but the results were not recorded.
HIGHLIGHTS (Game #1)
- MCLA rolled through the first set 25-12, emboldened by five kills by first-year Kaelynn Greeley (Corona, CA), four by senior Audrey Melson (Champlin Park, MN), and three by senior Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA). Sophomore Addison Decaro (Eagle River, AK) led the Trailblazers with a set high three service aces and six digs.
- The Falcons then answered back with a highly competitive second set that went to the hosts 25-23. The set included six ties and three lead changes. Diana Sosa-Martinez paced Fitchburg State with four kills in the set, trailing only Greeley's five kills for the set-high.
- MCLA took the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-21. Greeley again led the way for the Trailblazers, finishing the penultimate set with seven kills and then matching Brown with four kills in the final set.
- First-year Madison Maloof (Amsterdam, NY) had seven digs to fuel MCLA's third set win. She closed out the frame with a seven-point service run that included three kills by Greeley and a service ace for the win.

- Series History: MCLA now leads the all-time series between the teams 3-1. This was the first meeting of the teams since MCLA won a 3-2 match in the ECAC postseason game in North Adams on November 14, 2015. MCLA swept the first-ever meeting of the teams on September 21, 2002, during a tri-meet with Becker College.
HIGHLIGHTS (Game #2)
- MCLA won all three sets in dominant fashion, leading from wire to wire in a 25-10 first set, followed by a 25-17 second stanza and a 25-11 capper.
- The Trailblazers got kills from eight different players, led by six by Yung and five each by Greeley and Maloof. Decaro added 19 assists while Maloof and Olivia Grob (Goshen, NY) both recorded a team-high 12 digs, trailing only the Lynx's Korrine Hall-Johnson's 15. Grob also had a game-high four service aces.

On Wednesday, MCLA will be back in action when they play host to Framingham State for a MASCAC matchup with the Rams in the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
