Baseball Falls to Buccaneers
MCLA dropped a MASCAC matchup with Mass. Maritime this afternoon.
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The MCLA Baseball team opened its MASCAC home-and-home series with the Mass. Maritime Academy by welcoming the Buccaneers to Bobby Coombs Field. The Bucs' Nate Kaczynski went 5-5 at the plate and fell just a triple short of hitting for the cycle, as the visitors left town with a 21-4 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MCLA plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the first. Clayton Dutfield (Delmar, NY) opened the frame with a double into the left-center field alley and came around to score when Joshua Bissaillon (East Greenbush, NY) singled into the same gap.
- The Buccaneers responded with an offensive burst, scoring 11 runs across their next three turns at the plate. MMA got four in the second inning, including two on a double to center by Nate Kaczynski. They followed up with six runs in the third, capped by a two-run homer by Kaczynski.
- The teams traded runs in the fourth inning, with MMA capitalizing on one hit and an error that allowed Brayden Ramsey to score. The Trailblazer run came when Collin Gevry's (Newtown, CT) bases-loaded pop-up on the infield fell in for an RBI.
- The game tilted in the road team's favor in the fifth frame when MMA posted nine runs on six hits, and made the most of three MCLA errors. The inning included a pair of two-run singles by Aidan McCarthy and Michael Logiudice.
- The Trailblazers cut two runs off their deficit in the sixth inning, scoring runs on RBI singles by Jacob Olson (Holden, MA) and Nolan Space (Valatie, NY).
- Ben Zschau went the distance for the Buccaneers, striking out six and improved his record to 2-3. MCLA's Jake Jasminski (Milford, CT) took the loss to fall to 1-5.

On Saturday, MCLA will be back in action when it travels to Hendy Field on the campus of the Mass. Maritime Academy for a MASCAC matchup with the Buccaneers. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
