Thomas Snaps Lacrosse Three-Game Win Streak
MCLA dropped its first NAC game of the season this afternoon.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The MCLA Lacrosse team opened the North Atlantic Conference portion of their schedule this afternoon when they welcomed the Thomas College Terriers to Shewcraft Field. Anthony Andolina notched his fifth hat trick of the season for the Trailblazers, but the Terriers got four goals apiece from Owen and Wyatt Lyons to secure a 15-8 win for the road team.

- Series History: Thomas leads the all-time series 4-1, including a 14-3 win last season on April 5th in Waterville. The Trailblazers won the first-ever meeting of the teams on April 23, 2022, by the score of 15-9 in North Adams.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
- Thomas jumped out to an early lead, scoring four goals by four different players before the Trailblazers' first goal, and was leading 5-1 after one quarter. The goals were scored by Dustyn Hinkley (12:04 remaining in the first quarter, assisted by W. Lyons), Wyatt Lyons (8:51, Nicholas Pike), Jack Morrill (8:43, unassisted), and Owen Lyons (4:14, Pike, & 1:31, Connor Hamilton).
- MCLA's tally was scored by Anthony Andolina (3:02, Brierley). The assist was the ninth of the season for Brierley.
- The Trailblazers posted the first score of the second quarter while a man down when Carson Lewis (Barre, VT) (DN, 13:12 remaining in the second quarter, Roadcap) flipped a shot over his shoulder after taking a pass from Ty Roadcap (Troy, NY).
- Less than two minutes later, the Terriers responded with their first goal of the frame, which was credited to Tyler Lydon (11:15, unassisted).
- Andolina (9:22, unassisted, & 5:30, Mageles) then scored two goals for the home team, pulling them within two goals at 6-4. The assist went to Mark Mageles (Denmark, ME), who recorded his first of the year, while the goals pushed Andolina's team-leading total to 25.
- Thomas stretched the lead back to three goals when O. Lyons (3:08, Morrill) scored the final goal of the first half to make the score 7-4 at the intermission.
- The Trailblazers got back within a pair of scores just over a minute into the second half on a goal from Chase Kranz (Leominster, MA) (13:59 remaining in the third quarter, unassisted) when a shot rebounded out to him about ten yards out from the goal for a straight-on shot. The goal was the freshman's second of the season.
- Thomas responded with two goals by Hunter Simpson (13:11, Hamilton) and Hinkley (12:34, unassisted).
- Lewis (10:19, Andolina) then posted his second of the game and 15th of the season for MCLA to pull back to 9-6. The assist was the fifth of the season for Andolina.
- The Terriers closed out the quarter with a pair of Lyons goals, one by Owen (7:26, Simon Lanigan) and the other by Wyatt (2:08, Hamilton).
- W. Lyons (12:54 remaining in the fourth quarter, Pike, & 10:42, O. Lyons) scored two more for Thomas, sandwiched around one score for MCLA. The MCLA goal was the fifth of the year for Josh Hemstock (Amity, CT) (10:50, Lewis), while the helper was the fifth of the year for Lewis.
- Jesse Sag scored two goals for the Terriers, again sandwiched around a Trailblazer goal. Sag's (5:32, O. Lyons, & 0:18, unassisted) goals surrounded Neal Brierley (North Adams, MA) (0:43, Roadcap), posting his 15th, and paired it with Roadcap's fifth assist.
- Thomas' Mike Picard only needed two saves to improve his record to 6-2, while MCLA's Quentan Polkowski fell to 4-3 after stopping 23 shots.
