HOW IT HAPPENED
- MMA needed a bit of time to find its mojo as the Trailblazers kept the Mariners off the scoreboard the entire first half of the opening quarter. Trey Marcil (6:19, Walker) and Ryker Spear (5:12, unassisted) also scored in the first quarter. MCLA posted one goal before the clock expired on the opening frame when Keegan Covello (Woodstock, CT) (1:18, unassisted) put one in.
- The second and third quarters were all MMA as the Trailblazers would go more than 33 minutes between goals. In the second quarter alone, the Mariners posted four goals from Marcil (14:07 remaining in the second quarter, Lappin, & UP, 4:19, Lappin, & UP, 2:32, Parent, & 1:54, Lappin), three by Ryan Parent (13:53, unassisted, & UP, 13:04, Lappin, & UP, 4:25, Walker), two from Lappin (13:45, Parent, & 0:06, Parent) and one by Randall Walker (UP, 4:51, unassisted) to take a 13-1 lead into the break.
- Connor Harbey (10:43 remaining in the third quarter) opened the second half scoring before Parent (7:36, Lappin, & 5:31, Marcil) posted two more ahead of Tristan Reinhold (0:14, unassisted), closing out the third frame.
