Women’s Soccer Rolls Past Bay Path, 5-0
The MCLA Women’s Soccer team defeated Bay Path University 5-0 this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Women's Soccer team had five different goal scorers this afternoon as the Trailblazers rolled past visiting Bay Path University, 5-0. With the result Bay Path falls to 0-5-0 while MCLA improves to 2-5-0 (1-1-0 MASCAC).
The Trailblazers dominated from the opening whistle outshooting the Wildcats 46-0 in the first half, forcing Bay Path keeper Seralyn Lendroth (L, 0-3-0) to make 18 saves. However, Lauren Kimball's first goal of the season in the 12th minute was the only score of the half.
That changed quickly in the 47th minute however when Lauren Campbell knocked in a ball off a Kimball shot which hit the crossbar to make it 2-0. Kimball added another helper less than ten minutes later, on Gwendolyn Duggan's first goal of the season to stretch the lead to 3-0.
MCLA continued to keep the pressure on and in 78th minute Cydnee Frymire scored her first goal of the season off a Duggan rebound to make it 5-0. Catelyn Hodge put the exclamation point on the contest in the final minute, blasting her third goal of the season from over 30-yards out.
Lendroth finished with 31 saves while Destiny Alexandra Rivas (W, 2-4-0) and Mallory Amirian were not called upon to make a stop.
The Trailblazers outshot the Wildcats 73-0 and had a dominating edge in corner kicks (14-0).
