HIGHLIGHTS
- MCLA wasted now time, scoring before the fans had an opportunity to warm the aluminum bleachers at Shewcraft Field. Gwendolyn Duggan (Palmer, MA) started the scoring sequence by forcing a turnover at the top of the penalty circle and pushed the ball ahead to Lauren Campbell (Bennington, VT) (1', assisted by Duggan) who beat two defenders to the ball and chipped ball past the keeper. The goal was the second of the year for Campbell.
- The score would stay at 1-0 until just under eight minutes remained in the first half when Duggan (38', unassisted) rubbed a defender off a ball just outside the 18-yard box, deked a defender and the keeper to leave a wide-open net. The score was Duggan's second on the season.
- The Trailblazers weren't done, adding another goal in the closing minutes of the first half. This time the play started with MCLA forcing a turnover near midfield and using some nifty ball handling skills before Duggan found herself with the ball again at the edge of the box and maneuvered through the Falcon defense to find Catelyn Hodge (Schenectady, NY) (44', Duggan) about 12 yards out with an open net. The goal was Hodge's fourth of the campaign.
- With the clock ticking under ten minutes to play, the Trailblazers again forced a turnover by the Falcons deep in the Fisher end with Allie Bayer (Boring, OR) (81', unassisted) intercepting a clear attempt in open space about 22 yards out and fired a laser into the upper left corner of the net, avoiding a out stretched hands of the diving keeper. The goal was the first of the season for the senior defender.
- The Falcons finally broke through for a goal late in the half with Emely Fernandez (85', unassisted), curling a shot off a free kick from about 25 yards out.
- Just short of full time Kylie DeMaio (Roxbury, NY) (90', Duggan and Singh) accepted a pass from Korawan Singh (Sharon Springs, NY) via Duggan to set the final score at 5-1. The goal was the third of the season for DeMaio while the assists were the 8th for Duggan and the first for Singh.
- Trailblazers' keeper Destiny Rivas maintained a clean sheet for the first half, stopping all seven shots on net and improving her record to 3-5-0. Mariana Hernandez Cintron made six saves for the visitors, but still fell to 2-5-0.
