HIGHLIGHTS
- MCLA needed only three sets to sweep away the AMCATs by scores of 25-9, 25-15, and 25-7.
- MCLA never trailed in the first set, seeing four kills each from senior outside hitter Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA) and junior middle hitter Caroline Schmaling (Halifax, MA).
- The second set was the most competitive of the evening, featuring two lead changes and four ties between the teams. The AMCATs took their first lead of the match, thanks to a service ace by Ella Moon, which moved the score of the set to 2-1. They advanced as far as 5-3 before the Trailblazers rallied back to even the set at five all. From that point forward, MCLA doubled up the visitors for the remainder of the set.
- With the wind taken from their sails by the Trailblazers' dominant second set, the AMCATs couldn't rally in the third set, getting a single lead at 1-0 before MCLA ran the rest of the match. Sophomore defensive specialist Sasha Fyfe (Dalton, MA) recorded four of her game-high five service aces when the Trailblazers jumped to a 6-1 lead.
- Brown added six of her game-high 14 kills in the closing set.
- The straight set win extends the Trailblazers' set win streak to 12, thanks to their previous sweeps of Bay Path University, New England College, and SUNY Delhi. MCLA last dropped a set on September 10th versus Utica University.
