Lacrosse Tames Purchase, 11-5
MCLA won in non-conference play this afternoon.
PURCHASE, N.Y. – The MCLA Lacrosse team took to the road this afternoon for a non-conference matchup with the Purchase College Panthers. Neal Brierley led a quartet of multi-goal scorers for the Trailblazers while Quentan Polkowski stopped 13 shots to secure MCLA's second win of the season by the score of 11-5.

- Series History: Purchase College now leads the all-time series 2-1, including a 6-3 win last season in North Adams on March 15th. The Panthers won the first-ever meeting of the teams by the score of 10-7 in Purchase on March 6, 2024.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The teams combined for six goals in the opening frame. The home team posted the first goal of the game with a man advantage. Chandler Redwood (UP, 11:08 remaining in the 1st period, unassisted) was credited with the goal.
- MCLA would respond with a pair of goals, taking their first lead of the day. Josh Hemstock (Amity, CT) (9:35, unassisted) and Anthony Andolina (Ballston Spa, NY) (8:36, unassisted) each scored without the assistance of a teammate. The lead would only stand for 75 seconds before Davindra Deonarain (7:21, assisted by Haberski) leveled the score while Ryan Haberski was credited with the game's first assist.
- A bit under four minutes later, The Trailblazers' Neal Brierley (North Adams, MA) (3:29, Lewis) gave the road team the lead, a status that they would maintain for the rest of the game. Carson Lewis (Barre, VT) provided the helper on the play. A bit over a minute later Ty Roadcap (Troy, NY) (2:13, unassisted) would score the final tally of the of the period.
- The scoring in the second quarter wasn't as robust as it was in the first, but MCLA did expand on their lead overall. Haberski (11:21, unassisted) cut the lead to one only to see MCLA score six straight goals in a space of 30 minutes across three quarters. Brierley (10:19, unassisted), and Lewis (7:03, unassisted) sent the teams to the intermission with MCLA ahead 6-3.
- In the third frame, Andolina (UP, 10:46 remaining in the 3rd quarter, Brierley) and Brierley (10:28, unassisted) posted a pair quickly for the Trailblazers. The goal for Andolina was his team-leading 13th of the season. While the assist was number five for Brierley.
- The fourth saw another run of scoring as the teams combined for five more goals before time expired. Hemstock (12:29 remaining in the 4th quarter, Lewis) recorded his second of the day before Roadcap (9:29, unassisted) did the same, bringing their season totals to two and four, respectively, while Lewis' assist was his second of the game and third on the year.
- With 6:18 to go in the game, Zach Scott (6:18, Haberski) snapped a 6-0 run by MCLA, scoring the home team's first goal in 35 minutes to pull within 10-4. Brierley (UP, 3:38, Roadcap) closed out the MCLA side of the ledger with his fourth goal of the afternoon and 11th on the year, and the helper was the second of the season for Roadcap.
- The Panthers did record one final goal when Haberski (0:22, Scott) snuck one in with 22 seconds to play, off a helper from Zach Scott.
- The Trailblazers' Quentan Polkowski (Marcellus, NY) finished with 13 saves on 18 shots and leveled his record at 2-2 with the win. TJ Pasqualini took the loss falling to 0-2.
