MCLA dropped their final two conference games of the season as they lost 3-0 and 11-3 to the Framingham State Rams at the Joe Zavattaro Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Trailblazers honored seniors Kelly Pirzl, Kayla Koumjian and Kaitland Hager during ceremonies between games.
Game one was a pitcher's duel as Ainsley MacDonald ended up the tough luck losing pitcher. MacDonald surrendered just four hits and no earned runs as she went the distance.
Framingham scored all three runs in the fourth inning. Sherren Doyle (Middleboro, MA) reached on an error leading off the inning and Alyssa Shea (Lakeville, MA) drove in a pair two batters later with a double. Shea was thrown out trying to stretch in to a triple. Molly McKinnon (Framingham, MA) would later get hit by a pitch with two outs and would come around on a series of wild pitches.
Adriana Faria (Acton, MA) was magnificent for the Rams allowing just two base runners. Koumjian was the lone Trailblazer to reach; she had the lone hit for MCLA and walked as well. Koumjian broke up the no-hit bid with one out in the seventh.
Game two was the opposite as the teams combined for twenty-six hits and fourteen runs. The Trailblazers again were on the short end. MCLA got behind 3-0 in the first.
Shea led off with a single, followed by singles from Taylor Ezold (Westfield, MA) and Tiffany Agostini (Rehoboth, MA) loading the bases. They would all score in the inning, the big blow being the double by Kate Corriveault (Blackstone, MA).
MCLA would get down 4-0 before striking back in the bottom of the third. Koumjian was on second and Kendra Hobbs first when Angelica Perfido singled scoring Koumjian and sending Hobbs to third. Perfido would take second on the throw. Hobbs would then score on an RBI groundout by Sam Barbarotta and MCLA would tie it when Perfido scored on a passed ball.
The rally wouldn't last long though as the Rams got four in the fourth off the starter Pirzl. Framingham would tack on runs in the fifth and sixth for the 11-3 final.
Shea had four hits in game two and Ezold and Rams starter Alysia Morrissette (Ware, MA) each had three. Morrissette also earned the victory.
Pirzl took the loss for MCLA. Hager was 1-2 in game two and Erin Kelley, Marissa Mendetta and Taylor Warnock all were 1-3 for the Trailblazers.
MCLA will play at Williams College Monday at 4:00pm.
