Wehner has Milestone Weekend
Senior forward Jen Wehner became the all time leading scorer in program history, while also amassing her 1,000th career rebound this weekend.
North Adams, MA- MCLA senior forward Jen Wehner had quite a trip to Gorham, ME as the Trailblazers competed in the University of Southern Maine Holiday Classic. On Friday night against the host Huskies, Wehner notched her 1,000th career rebound. Prior to that milestone, she had already become the programs all-time leading rebounder. The following afternoon, Wehner collected 16 points against UW-Stout to became the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,327 points, nudging past Pam Barton's career total of 1,321 points set in 1994.
Milestones are nothing new for Wehner as the Cooperstown, NY native has been rewriting the record books since her arrival to campus four years ago. She was instrumental in program accomplishments in both soccer and basketball, however on the court her prowess has never been seen before in North Adams.
There have been a number of firsts for Wehner in a Trailblazer uniform. She was the first player in program history to be named an All American, claiming that honor as a senior. Wehner became MCLA's first player to be named the MASCAC Player of the Year as she earned the honor as a junior. The six footer was also a member of the first ever NCAA tournament team as a sophomore, where she was named the MASCAC tournament MVP as a sophomore.
On the individual side, Wehner has rewritten the Trailblazer record books. She is the program leader in scoring, rebounding, and field goal percentage. She has been named MASCAC player of the week over ten times in her career and has appeared on the All Conference team every season.
More important to Wehner has been the team accomplishments. Her teams have set school records for wins in a season (18 during her sophomore season), competed in the only NCAA tournament in program history (2010), and have appeared in ECAC New England Championships as a junior. She is a member of the most successful class in program history amassing 54 wins to date.
